Exciting news!

Hey guys, I have exciting news!

As of today, the Ascension demo is effectively feature complete, sans a couple small tweaks and additions. It’s been five months coming, and I think you’re going to enjoy what we’ve made.

So what are we doing now, you ask? Well, tomorrow is the first day of our week-long beta testing period, where we’ll fix any and all complaints with the game (or try). I’ll be working on the demo’s sidequest and trailer during that time. I think I’ll post a handful of screenshots over the course of the week. It’s been too long without any real art!

Ohai guys, fancy meeting you here.

As you know, we’re rapidly approaching the end of October (Alright, maybe not that rapidly, but God it feels like it) and with it comes, with a bit of luck and effort, the release of the Ascension demo. We’ve been working our asses off here in an attempt to match our deadline, but so far things are proceeding quite well and I think I speak for everyone when I say that I’m very, very proud of what we’ve accomplished. This game is, without a doubt, the most ambitious game we’ve ever created, and so far our efforts have paid off. It’s hard to say at this point whether people OTHER than ourselves will enjoy it, but come the beta testing period we’ll find out.

When the demo releases, it’ll be in as many places as we can put it without people getting pissed off. Chances are, if you frequent a popular indie development site, you’ll see our game there. We’d really appreciate it if, after playing the demo, you left a comment. Regardless of whether you hated it, loved it, or were relatively untouched by the game, it’d be helpful to us in terms of improving the game and getting exposure.

We also have plans of making a trailer (shiver) and submitting it to some news sites. Hopefully they like it. If not, we wait and try again ;D.

As of right now the game is pretty much complete, except for some tweaking and a lot of artwork. Not all of the artwork will make it into the demo, but we’re going to do our best to make the game complete in terms of demo content. We’ll probably add some things after the initial demo release, but nothing major (unless we find a crippling bug or design flaw, of course).

After the demo releases and we make a couple necessary changes that I’m sure will come up, we’ll probably take a week or two to rest from the crunch period. During that time we may or may not make a little arcade game to give ourselves a change, but I’m not making any promises; we might just feel like resting. After that, it’s back to Ascension as we begin work on the full game. Exciting!

 

Anyways, that’s it for now! I’ve got no new art to show you right now; most of the game is in the atmosphere and that’s hard to convey through still images. Plus, I don’t want to spoil anything. See you all soon!
